Code of Conduct
All participants of Learn Teach Code Community are expected to abide by our Code of Conduct, both online and during in-person events that are hosted and/or associated with Learn Teach Code.
Our Pledge
In the interest of fostering an open and welcoming environment, we as moderators of Learn Teach Code. to make participation in our projects, events, and our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, level of experience, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
Our Standards
Examples of behavior that contributes to creating a positive environment include:
- Using welcoming and inclusive language
- Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
- Referring to people by their preferred pronouns and using gender-neutral pronouns when uncertain
- Gracefully accepting constructive criticism
- Focusing on what is best for the growth of the individual and Learn Teach Code community
- Showing empathy towards other Learn Teach Code members
Examples of unacceptable behavior by participants include:
- Maliciousness towards other - deliberately attempting to make others feel bad, name-calling, singling out others for derision or exclusion. For example, telling someone they’re not a real programmer or that they don’t belong at Learn Teach Code
- Unwelcome comments regarding a person's lifestyle choices and practices, including those related to food, health, parenting, drugs, and employment.
- The use of sexualized language or imagery and unwelcome sexual attention or advances
- Trolling, insulting/derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
- Public or private harassment
- Direct sales or product marketing for financial gain.
- Publishing others' private information, such as a physical or electronic address, without explicit permission
- Being especially unpleasant - for example, if we’ve received reports from multiple LTC members or of annoying, rude, or especially distracting behavior.
Enforcement
Violations of this Code of Conduct may be reported by contacting the team via the abuse report by emailing [email protected]. All reports will be reviewed and investigated and will result in a response that is deemed necessary and appropriate to the circumstances.
Learn Teach Code board members reserve the right and responsibility to suspend, to remove members that are not aligned to this Code of Conduct, or to ban temporarily or permanently any members for other behaviors that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful. This is how members of the board will handle misconduct:
- Warning: A fair warning will be sent out to the violator.
- Suspension: For repetitive misconduct or behavior, the individual will be refrain from participating in any active Learn Teach Code events (virtual or in-person).
